Cigar Label Tumbler: Cost, Supplies & Suggested Retail Price
If you haven’t checked it out yet, I have a tutorial on how I created this tumbler on my YouTube!
Supply List & Cost:
For me, the labels were free as they were provided by the customer. If your customer provides the label I would not include the cost in your supplies, or maybe provide a discount. Especially if they let you KEEP any additional labels that were leftover as these can be hard to find. I did find a listing on eBay for some labels which brings them to approximately 24 cents each.
Approximately 70 labels from eBay used at 24 cents each = $16.80
20 oz Curve Tumbler from Griffin Blanks (including the use of BAMF10 for 10% off) is $7.19
Approximately 80 mL of Modpodge were used at 2 cents per mL totaling $1.60
Cup for Modpodge = 68 cents
Paint Brush = $2.99
Using CCDIY Ultra Clear Fast Set Epoxy & Sanding/Cleaning in between layers:
- Layer 1: 30 mL
- Layer 2: 20 mL
- Sand & Clean with 91% Alcohol (5 mL @ 1 cent/mL)
- Layer 3: 20 mL
- Sand & Clean with 91% Alcohol (5mL @ 1 cent/mL)
- Layer 4: 10 mL
- Sand & Clean with 91% Alcohol (5mL @ 1 cent/mL)
- Layer 5 (Final Layer): 10 mL
90mL Total of CCDIY Ultra Clear Fast Set Epoxy at 4 cents a mL = $3.60
15mL of 91% alcohol at 1 cent a mL = 15 cents
6 Cotton rounds total to use with alcohol at 3 cents a piece = 18 cents
Epoxy Materials for Mixing each layer totals $1.55
5 Gloves at 24 cents each = $1.20
5 medicine cups at 3 cents each = 15 cents
5 Popsicle Sticks at 3 cents each = 15 cents
150 Seconds of Propane at 1 cent per 30 seconds = 5 cents
Cleaning Your Tumbler totals 22 cents
5 mL at 1 cent/mL of 91% Alcohol = 5 cents
5 mL at 1 cent/mL of Acetone = 5 cents
4 Cotton Rounds at 3 cents a piece = 12 cents
Packaging Your Tumbler totals $2.37
3 pcs of tissue paper at 3 cents a piece = 9 cents
2 pcs of bubble wrap at 13 cents a piece = 26 cents
1 care card from Vista Print at 6 cents a piece
1 thank you Post Card from Vista Print at 11 cents a piece
1 Freebie Vinyl from the Cooke Co at 19 cents a piece (use code BAMF to save $$)
6 Packaging stickers totaling 84 cents from the CookeCo
1 Rollo Shipping Label at 3 cents a piece
1 Packing Slip + Ink totaling 6 cents
1 10x4x4 Box from Amazon at 66 cents each
Approximately 16 inches of tape from Package Mint at .004 cents an inch totaling 7 cents
Your total materials cost comes to: $37.33 (including the eBay labels)
My total time spent on this tumbler was approximately 1 hr 15 min at $12 an hour comes to labor being: $15
Suggested Retail Price:
[(Material Cost x3) + (Hourly Wage + Time)]/2
[($37.33 x 3) + ($12 x 1.25)]/2
[$111.99 + $15]/2
$126.99/2
= $63.50
If your custom provides the Labels you could subtract (whatever you feel comfortable with) $5 to $15 from the cup, as labels are very difficult to find.
I charge my customer for his cups $45 because he always supplies the labels and has ordered 5+ tumblers from me. He pays in a timely manner and is patient and overall a fantastic customer to work with.
Pricing depends on YOU. I recommend staying consistent and stern though.
I hope all of this information was useful to you! Comment below and let me know what you think, or if you have any questions!
Who can I contact to get one of these made? I can supply labels. Thanks.
